MLB 2008 Predictions

I don't know enough about the NL to comment, but I think the AL wild card will go to Cleveland with New York coming in second.  The East will end up being tougher than the Central this year.  As you indicate, the Twins will probably have a down year, and the White Sox and Royals are still rebuilding.  Toronto should be a force again this year, and I could see them making the East a 3 team race that drags the 2nd place team out of the playoffs (similar to the Central last year).  That would leave Cleveland (or possibly Detroit if the bullpen underperforms) with the wild card spot.  In my opinion Boston looks more solid than New York coming into the season, and I can see the Yankees finally missing out on the playoffs.   I like the Tigers to win it all, but as noted above it'll depend on the pitching.

MLB 2008 Predictions

i agree with most of them, but how can you put the yankees on top of the Red Sox and have the Red Sox out of the playoffs, thats awful man. The Yankees will not be a 97 win team. You do know they have 2 proven starters, Wang and Pettite and even Pettite struggled. Hughes hasnt proven himself, Joba as a starter has not proven himself and we all saw Moose collapse last year. So regardless that your math doesnt add up on the winning percentage, you totally messed up in the AL East. I do agree that the team to beat this year is the Tigers, but also the team to beat is the Red Sox who will be better than last year.

MLB 2008 Predictions

You have 11 90 game winners which is ridiculous including the mariners and bluejays as 2 of them.  You do realize that the blue jays have to play the yankees and the redsox 19 times each so they will be lucky if the win 80 games and the mariners in my eyes are still not strong enough.

MLB 2008 Predictions

How could we give a good opinion on your picks when you have 87 extra wins???  That's ridiculous.  Didn't you even realize that you gave every single division an overall winning record?  Wow.  Also, there MVPs and Cy Young winners for the AL and NL.  And if you're going to make predictions, you probably don't need to qualify your guesses with "by the way top four teams can go in all different orders."  It's your guess!

MLB 2008 Predictions

The Yankees pitching is suspect/unproven and I don't think they will win the East, unless their young pitchers (Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain if he starts) really come through and have great seasons.  I think Boston will win the East again.

Other than the number of wins that you have for each team (too many, as noted by others), I agree with most of the order of finishes that you have for each division (except for the AL East).  The only other division where I may disagree with you is the NL West, where I think the Dodgers have a good shot at winning it and the D-Backs, with the acquisition of Haren, may be the Wild Card (if they don't win the division - LA would then win the WC), rather than the Phillies.  The NL West will be very competitive and any of the top 4 (LA, AZ, CO, SD) could win the division.  SF has some good young pitchers but no offense to support them.

Also, now that I look again, I don't think the White Sox will finish 3rd in the AL Central.  Even though the Twins lost Santana, I think they will finish 3rd in the Central.  Gardenhire always seems to have the Twinkies playing competitively and well.  I'm hoping the Tigers pitchers (Rogers, Bonderman, Robertson) can stay healthy and pitch consistently.  If not, they may not win the Central.  I am cautiously optomistic, as a Tigers fan.  Hopefully, they can get some bullpen help or be adequate until Zumaya gets back.
